Akagera National Park – Tour Guide Explanation
Welcome to Akagera National Park, Rwanda’s only savannah park and one of the most scenic wildlife destinations in East Africa. Located along the border with Tanzania, Akagera offers a beautiful mixture of rolling hills, open grasslands, woodlands, and an impressive network of lakes and wetlands.
This park is home to the Big Five — lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino — making it the perfect place for a classic African safari right here in Rwanda. As we explore, you’ll also have the chance to see giraffes, zebras, hippos, crocodiles, antelopes, and a rich variety of birdlife; over 500 species have been recorded here.
Akagera is also
known for its incredible conservation journey. After years of decline, the park
has been restored through a successful partnership between the Rwanda
Development Board and African Parks. Lions and rhinos were reintroduced, and
today Akagera stands as one of Africa’s greatest conservation success stories.
During your visit, you can enjoy game drives, a peaceful boat safari on Lake Ihema, bird watching, and guided nature walks. Each experience gives you a different perspective of the park’s wildlife and stunning landscapes.
As we move through the park today, please relax, keep your eyes open for wildlife, and feel free to ask any questions. I’m here to make sure your experience in Akagera is memorable, educational, and full of adventure
